It you work or study during the week and only have the weekends free you should seriously consider the Fast Track School of Driving Ultra Intensive Weekend Driving Courses - especially if you want to pass first time. They comprise of 15, 30, 45 or 60 hours of individual, 1.5 hour, one-to-one driving lessons given by a Grade 6 driving instructor over 1, 2, 3 or 4 weekends, respectively - depending on the particular requirements of the driving student [5 Driving Lessons on Saturdays & Sundays x 1, 2, 3, or 4 weekends]. All of these weekend driving courses are offered at highly competitive rates [see Fees to pass first time].
Please note the 60 hours of training within the 4 Weekend Course is slightly less than the 67 hours advocated by the Driving Standards Agency [for verification and further information please see www.direct.gov.uk] due to the more intensive training level of the course: Put simply the more intensive the driving course you take the quicker you will learn to drive and understand how to pass the practical driving test [see practical driving test]. This highly convenient course is comparable in price with the discounted Fast Track School of Driving Standard Driving Courses - excluding the charge for the residential option if required [see residential driving courses].
If you are a novice driving student it is still important to follow a driving course that covers all of the required driving competencies in order to maximise your chance of passing the practical driving test first time [see practical driving test]. The 47 hours of professional driving instruction plus 20 hours of private driving practice, advocated by the Driving Standards Agency, can only be reduced slightly - even with an Ultra Intensive, Weekend Driving Course and of course it is safer and more cost effective to have the practice element with a Grade 6 driving instructor [see Principal grade 6 driving instructor].
The practical pass rate statistics illustrate the importance of this as, at the time of publication, they show that the pass rate for the practical car driving test is around 46 % (national) and 43 % (Ipswich).
Although there are many underlying reasons to explain these statistics, it is clear that if you are a complete novice driver prepared to commit to an Ultra Intensive Driving Course over 4 weekends your best chance of passing the practical car driving test first time is to have 60 hours of professional, ultra-intensively delivered driving lessons with a Grade 6 driving instructor [see Principal grade 6 driving instructor].
If you have had 10 to 20 hours of previous driving lessons or substantial previous road user experience, such as 1 to 2 years riding a motorbike, you may be able to reach practical car driving test standard over 3 or possibly even 2 weekends of ultra intensive training - although your driving ability would need to be carefully assessed on the first lesson before such courses could be deemed appropriate.
If you have had a full course of professional driving lessons or if you have taken and not passed the practical car driving test or if you have passed your test and require a refresher course, you may be able to take the 2 or possibly even 1 Weekend Driving Course in order to meet your driving requirements - although your driving ability would need to be carefully assessed on the first lesson before such courses could be deemed appropriate.
